Hi Angela and Thank you very much for accepting this interview, hopefully we will know you a bit better, and more people will know and get involve in your cause about animal care and protection;
Name and nationality:
Angela Dimitrov
Why and when did you come to Bulgaria?
I came to Bulgaria in 2008. I moved here to live in my husband’s hometown to see the Bulgarian way of life. I also wanted to show my children a different experience from life in Los Angeles, California.
What do you like about your country?
I like that everything is at your fingertips in California, the weather is always nice, the beaches are pristine and the mountain resorts are luxurious. Although, this beauty comes with a high price.
What differences do you see in your country and Bulgaria?
In Varna, Bulgaria, our life has many similarities to when we were living in California. The major difference is we don’t have to pay the high prices of California. Bulgaria offers beautiful beaches, mountain resorts, hot mineral baths, winery’s and top ski resorts for an affordable price. Additionally, the standard of education is much higher in Bulgaria than in the USA. By living here, my children have learned many languages and are much more cultured than the average American child.
What do you like about Bulgaria?
I love that everything is close. Everything in Varna is just a bike ride away. Also, the large population of foreigners makes life easier and more enjoyable. There is never a dull moment in Varna. There’s always a live band performing, a cultural event or something happening that brings locals, expats and tourists together.
Mention one important experience you’ve had in Bulgaria.
For me, I have found a love for the stray animals of Bulgaria. I spend much of my time rescuing, and caring for the local strays. I do my best to find homes for dogs, cats and sometimes birds. I have a local Varna rescue page on Facebook called SavePaws. Our goal is to bring awareness and find homes for the less-fortunate.
Do you speak other languages?
I only speak English fluently although I have learned to understand and communicate in Bulgarian and Spanish.
have you visited other countries?
I am well-traveled and have experienced many walks of life.
What advice would you give to other people who would like to come to live in Bulgaria?
Having traveled and experienced many places on this beautiful planet, I would highly recommend Bulgaria to anyone seeking a life of peace, beauty and simplicity. In Bulgaria, you truly will live a beautiful life. Bulgaria offers healing hot water springs, salt water beaches and mountain fresh air. The locals always have fresh veggies and fruit for sale. It truly is a secret gem in Eastern Europe.
