Today we are together with Daniel Montiglio the person behind Foreigner.bg, who uses his life experience in Varna  Bulgaria and his extensive network of contacts, to advise and help foreigners who want to make Bulgaria their second homeland.

Name and nationality:

Daniel Montiglio, Chilean nationality.

Why and when did you come to Bulgaria?

I came to Bulgaria for the first time in 2004 to see my girlfriend at that time, who today is my wife and I live in Bulgaria permanently since 2005.

What do you like about your country?

From my country Chile, I like many things, its landscapes, the ocean, and its climatic diversity.

What differences do you see in your country and Bulgaria?

Despite the distance between Chile and Bulgaria over the years today I find more similar than I seemed before, probably the fact of having learned the language and being able to communicate with them has helped me a lot to know them better and appreciate the similarities that we have, the two cultures are similar in the fundamental importance that we give to the family as the central axis of our lives.

What do you like about Bulgaria?

From Bulgaria, I like its nature a lot, from the first day I liked its landscapes, the vegetation and also its people and that are a country proud of its traditions. I also find that melancholy interesting that can be appreciated when passing through almost ghost towns on the roadsides.

Mention an important experience you’ve had in Bulgaria

Foreigner.bg Daniel Montiglio

In Bulgaria my daughters were born, here I marry, so I can say that in personal terms this country has been very important in my adult life, I have developed professionally and I have found very good friends.

Do you speak other languages?

I speak Spanish, and English besides the Bulgarian language

have you visited other countries?

I have visited many countries, in Latin America, the United States, Canada, Mexico, several in Europe, in total perhaps more than 30 countries mostly for work, but I have always tried to give me a time to know something more in the places I visit.

What advice would you give to other people who would like to come to live in Bulgaria?

Bulgaria is a beautiful country, which welcomes foreigners very well when they arrive wanting to live here and with the intention of integrating themselves in the Bulgarian community.

Learning the language is a fundamental part of a successful adaptation in Bulgaria and as always being respectful of local traditions always helps, it does not do much to criticize those who are not as we would like, there are no perfect countries, you have to learn to live, to adapt and appreciate the good little things in life.

Do not be afraid to come to Bulgaria, it is a country that will not leave you indifferent and are not afraid to ask for help, nobody was born knowing everything, not having all the answers.
