From The Cosmopolitan Berlin To The Sunny Varna

Today we have the pleasure to share with all of you the history of the Foreigner BG friend Benjamin Wild, that more than a year ago made a decision that changed his life and moved to Varna, and here are his thoughts about it.

Name and nationality:

Benjamin Wild from Berlin, Germany

Tell us a bit about you and what you do

I really enjoy the beach and the life here in Varna and Bulgaria, at the beginning lets, say the first 6 months I didn’t really do much work, I got into the life here and the feeling of how things work in Bulgaria was traveling and getting into the culture.

I have started a few businesses in Germany during the last years, and here in Varna, I got more involved in digital marketing because there is a lot of potential helping companies to communicate their message to interest possible clients.

Why and when did you come to Bulgaria?

I move to Bulgaria a bit more than a year ago, and I really like Bulgaria, it makes me feel at home.

Varna is a beautiful city where I feel comfortable.

What are some differences between your country and Bulgaria?

In Germany, the efficiency is a very important and high priority, here in Bulgaria people is more interesting life and enjoying.

What do you like about Bulgaria?

The life and the culture, the german efficiency that I mention before also is applicable to the personal relations, I enjoy living day today and that people aren’t that formal and more flexible in communication and social life.

Bulgaria has great potential for about 10 years is part of the European Union and I’m very excited about been here and see the progress.

What was the most difficult bureaucratic procedure you have undergone so far in Bulgaria?

Since I’m a citizen of a European country everything has been very smooth for me, it was easy to get my Long Term Residence permission, and also to open a business, but since I still don’t speak Bulgarian, translating has been a complication for some documentation that I have done here.

It will be great if some applications could be translated into other languages

If you have the chance to change something in Bulgaria, what it will be?

If I have the chance to change something that will be the Bulgarian driving habits and behavior, is common that young drivers to don’t really care about safety on the road, sometimes people don’t blink when they change the line or take a turn, also speeding is a problem, improving overall safety conditions in Bulgaria would be great.

What languages do you speak other than your mother tongue?

I speak English, Spanish since I was living in Mexico for a year, and a bit of Portuguese, the Bulgarian language is on is the way.

How is your business going?

We have a Digital marketing agency called “HashtagTourism” where we help the tourist industry in Bulgaria with their digital market efforts, with a special focus in the german market.

What advice would you give to other people who would like to come to live in Bulgaria?

there are 2 different people that would like to move to Bulgaria, retired people that decide to move to Bulgaria because of the good living conditions, you can have a really wonderful life here not working, but you also may have a great life here working.

Nature in Bulgaria have a big variety, you can choose the mountains or the beach, but for business, I would definitely recommend bigger cities, like Sofia, Plovdiv or Varna, but also Burgas, Ruse or even Gabrovo.

There is a big potential in Bulgaria, at the moment Bulgaria is the poorest country in the European Union, which also means that there are huge possibilities for progress.

I think is very interesting to be here at this moment in history.

We want to thank to Benjamin to take the time and share his view about life in Bulgaria with all of us, and we wish him good luck with his business in Bulgaria.
