John Alexander Toro Gonzalez, Colombian

Why and when did you come to Bulgaria?

I arrived for first time in Bulgaria on 1995   / 1996, when I came to visit the Family of my first Wife

What do you like about your country?

Colombia is a beautiful Country where you can find diversity in the culture, styles of cooking, living, thinking, also  incredible places to visit.

The People in Colombia is happy,  always looking forward and never give up and always ready to help.

What differences do you see between your country and Bulgaria?
  • Bulgaria is a country where you feel safe, your kids can play offside without no worries, Colombia is totally the opposite.
  • The location of Bulgaria gives the opportunity to travel to other countries in an easier way, and that’s great!
  • In Bulgaria and Colombia the Food is very good, but the way of eating is different, I consider in Bulgaria the people eat more healthy
  • In some cases the education in Bulgaria is better than in Colombia, the level is higher and when students completed their studies they have  better options to develop their careers
What do you like about Bulgaria?
  • Bulgaria is a wonderful Country with nice places to go in the mountain or the beaches.
  • Bulgaria is full of history, culture, traditions, friendly people.
  • They have a variety of old architecture, concrete buildings and modern skyscrapers formed an interesting mixture which make them part of the heart of Bulgaria
  • Their Hospitality will make you  enjoy, doesn’t matter if in an ancient place or a modern Hotel.
  • Bulgaria offers you a quiet and safe place to live, where you can go around without to feel afraid.
Mention one important experience you’ve had in Bulgaria:

The best experience I had in Bulgaria was to meet the family of my first wife. Their hospitality makes me feel one of their family members in just a few days, even if my Bulgarian was very poor, they always looked for ways that we could understand each other.

Do you speak other languages?

Apart of Spanish, I speak English, Bulgarian, Romanian (basic level) and Portuguese

have you visited other countries?

Yes, different Countries in Europe, North, Central and South America, many Caribbean Islands.

What advice would you give to other people who would like to come to live in Bulgaria?

To the people who is planning to visit Bulgaria not matter the reason, they should read and learn in advance about the Country  (Culture, Language, Lifestyle). In this way they will be able to adapt  better and faster,  then they’ll enjoy the beautiful things in Bulgaria, breaking the frontiers that every Foreigner has in a new place.
