Paula Montiglio, better known in Bulgaria as Pierina Montiglio, the pseudonym I use for my artistic work. Chilean
Why and when did you come to Bulgaria?
I have come 3 years in a row to visit my family for the summer holidays, and during those trips I fall in love with Bulgaria, last December I finally received my visa that will allow me to live for 1 year in this country.
What do you like about your country?
The best that Chile has, is its natural beauty, the diversity of its geography.
and in the personal relation level, the friendship, solidarity, and of course as latino people we organizing meetings that can usually be planned at the same time without the need for formalities.
What differences do you see in your country and Bulgaria?
Bulgaria is a quiet country to live with and few inhabitants. On the other hand Santiago, which is the capital, where I come from, is full of people and in permanent stress.
Bulgaria is close to many countries and with great cultural diversity, unlike Chile which is geographically isolated.
What do you like about Bulgaria?
Well, there are many things that I can name; the great and diverse history of Bulgaria, the way you preserve it. I love that you maintain your beautiful traditions, soon i found out about Martenitsa and I love it, the temperature of the Black Sea water, the abundant vegetation and the traditional gastronomy, also the fresh fruits and vegetables.
Mention one important experience you’ve had in Bulgaria
Shortly after arriving here, I was able to have the opportunity to make show my artistic creations during a book launch, the book was about Pablo Neruda a Chilean Nobel prize and for me it was an honor to have the opportunity to participate, it was great that people like my work and have a great reception.
Do you speak other languages?
I speak spanish and a very little English with which I can survive in a very basic way, but soon I will start taking Bulgarian lessons, which makes me very happy 🙂
Have you visited other countries?
Of course, more than anything in South American countries like Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Venezuela. In Europe, a bit of Italy and Bulgaria.
What advice would you give to other people who would like to come to live in Bulgaria?
Come without fear, if you are looking for a quiet place to live, this is your place.
